Calculations round up to the nearest 1/8 yard for the amount of material to purchase.
All calculations are done twice in the background, but you'll just see the result that uses the least fabric. For example, for 2" x 3" blocks, the calculator will try both 2" x 3" and 3" x 2" and present the yardage and cutting diagram that uses the least fabric.
Allowances are pre-set for seam allowance (1/4"), squaring up and shrinkage (10%, actual inches added is reported on the cutting diagram), miter allowance on borders (3"), and extra for binding (12"). All of these allowances and more can be modified in QuiltSandwich.
